How to beginAre you ready to remodel your home, or just update the old place a bit?
There's a process: 1. Decide to part with your money. 2. Find out how to get what you're about to pay for. 3. Well,... Good luck on that.
I suggest that you start with as much information about the process as possible. I offer you the ability to do your own shop drawings. These are the detailed drawings of how you want your project to turn out. This is the part of the process that you can take your time on and get it right. The problem is, this isn't often a separate part of the process. Usually you will hire an architect (if the job is big enough for that kind of an expense) or if your job is smaller, you can just work with your cabinetmaker and contractor to figure out what you want for the design of your project. How about this, suppose you design your kitchen (or whatever your working on). You don’t really need an architect (or a designer, for that matter) to tell you what you want. And cabinet makers really don’t have the time and money to dedicate a whole part of their business to design. It can be a very time consuming and involved process. And anyway, with a little help, it’s better that you do your own design, to your own taste. So, suppose you had a good idea of what you want and you could hire your own drafter, taking your time, and get down on paper exactly what you want for your project. You will save time and money when you are prepared with your own ideas and can go directly to work on construction - without paying for an architect or being charged by a cabinetmaker that needs to hurry you through the design process so that they can get into the shop and get to work. |
